IPPF Africa Region has launched a community of practice (CoP)which we have the pleasure of hosting on our MA Forum Website. The aim is to share all the stories coming out the region by MA’s, to ensure that the learnings are amplified and possibly explored by all. For more information you can visit here.
Each month we will upload the presentations and meeting notes from MA’s who have presented their best practices to the CoP.

Persons with Disability as actors and beneficiaries of SRHR services
IPPF’s MA in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) – Association pour le Bien-Etre familial Naissance Desirables (ABEF/ND) highlighted it’s work with persons with disabilities (PWD), who are key actors and beneficiaries in its provision of sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services.
“From our experience, PWD feel more comfortable receiving services from their peers who share the same experiences. We have increased the number of PWD reached through our services,” said Gilbert Ngonga, the ABEF/ND Executive Director.
Among the results achieved by ABEF/ND were:
- 20 PWD trained as trainers for SRHR services
- 68 PWD trained as SRHR service providers
- 58,614 SRHR services provided at community level by PWD

The objective of the ARO CoP platforms is to enhance peer-to-peer connectivity and experience sharing among MAs.
