We are excited to let you know that we have completed 8 Roundtables to date.
The roundtables have provided new platforms of dialogue and discussion within the Federation.
Topics of these roundtables have ranged from governance to comprehensive sexuality education. We have also re-designed our webpage documenting our roundtables and include it here for you to check out what your colleagues have been doing.
Governance Roundtable: A year has passed since IPPF’s governance reforms, driven by the General Assembly of November 2019, came to life through May 2020 Governing Council approval. This roundtable provided an opportunity to reflect on the implementation of IPPF’s governance in the past year and review lessons learned from the leadership role of young people that led to the reform. It assessed future trends of governance, given our changing and unpredictable world, as we continue to fight Covid-19.
Assisted by an external stakeholder familiar with the IPPF reforms, participants were provided with the opportunity to have a better grasp of the Federation’s governance; assessed what lessons can be replicated at other levels of the Federation to inspire, trigger and create the urgency for governance reform; and take forward the lessons learned that could go beyond this pandemic era.
“The board must not get in the way of excellence.” – Kate Gilmore, Chair, IPPF Board of Trustees
Key takeaways include:
Change is healthy
We need to question the way we are working every day – challenge the status quo. This is how we will have successful strategic framing
Change is inevitable and necessary to adapt to reality – COVID-19 taught us that reality can change vert fast. We have a responsibility to anticipate changes
Never forget why we are working – serve people women, men, LGBTQI, young people, marginalised people

The Roundtable also featured Member Associations from around the world to speak about their experiences. You can get more information about the roundtable here
