Secretariat Accountability Mechanism: Current Status and Future Socialisation
Here’s an update on the Secretariat Accountability Mechanism (SAM) initiative, detailing our progress thus far and outlining upcoming opportunities for engagement
What is SAM?
SAM is a collaborative effort between the Secretariat and Member Associations (MAs) to gather your feedback on the Secretariat support to achieving our shared strategic goals. Your feedback is crucial for improving future planning and ensuring the Secretariat’s work aligns with your needs. SAM is conducted every three years.
Update on the Process and Next Steps:
A comprehensive survey covering various areas was piloted in January 2023 and opened to all MAs and CPs from September to November 2023. It was available in multiple languages (Arabic, English, French, and Spanish).
In April 2024, we conducted discussions with two groups of MA representatives (senior management and young people) from 28 MAs to delve deeper into the survey feedback. The FGDs provided valuable insights to complement the survey data.
We are now finalizing the analysis and will share a consolidated report with all MAs/CPs in late July 2024. This report will detail the findings and will be accompanied by an action plan on the priorities for the Secretariat to address based on your feedback.
Looking Ahead: Future Socialisation and Regional Discussions
We are committed to ongoing engagement with all MAs. Here are some ways you can stay involved:
- Review the final report and action plan: The final report will summarize the SAM process, key findings, and the management response with a detailed action plan.
- Join regional discussions: The Regional Offices will be hosting sessions with you to delve deeper into the findings and answer your questions. More details about these sessions, including dates and registration information, will be shared soon through official channels.
Your input is vital for a strong, collaborative partnership. We encourage you to actively participate in the upcoming regional discussions and reach out with any questions or suggestions.
