The Legal Support Team was formed following the General Assembly Meeting in Delhi as part of the support/drafting team to work on policies and legal instruments of the Federation. Its work will enable the Transition Committee to meet its deliverables in line with the policy review process and to update the Federation’s Regulations and Procedural byelaws. The team has initiated work on all the assigned activities, including: developing ToRs for its work; consulting with and gathering inputs from various stakeholders, including an external lawyer; developing a policy review guideline; among others. These inputs are being translated into the amended versions of IPPF’s legal instruments.
A representative from the team took part in the February Transition Committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur to seek clarity and explore ideas with the Transition Committee in order to better shape the new Regulations and Procedural Byelaws. These discussions will enable the team to take forward the tasks at hand in order to meet the statutory deadlines and share the first drafts of the amended documents with the concerned stakeholders for review, feedback and sign off prior to their translation and presentation to the Governing Council for review and approval.
With these clarities, individual policy owners will be contacted for their input into the policy review process.
