IPPF Reform Newsletter

Over the last month, the Transition Committee (TC), the Secretariat’s Reform Management Unit, and all of the support teams have been working intensively to carry forward the reforms agreed in New Delhi. As the pace of the Transition accelerates, we will continue to post regular updates, action alerts, and more on the ippfischanging.org website.

Transition Committee Face-to-Face Meeting

The Transition Committee held its first in-person meeting in Kuala Lumpur from Feb 3-5. This was an opportunity for decision-making to move forward with recruitment for the new Board of Trustees. It also provided time for a deep dive into the resource allocation model. Click here to read a summary of discussions and outcomes of the TC meeting.

During their time in Kuala Lumpur, TC members also visited the local MA to ground their deliberations in the work and realities of IPPF’s membership. Read about their site visit here.

Action Alert: Take First Transition Survey

In January, we posted the first survey of the transition to get feedback on the General Assembly, Global Youth Forum, and reforms, and to gauge your interest in participating in the transition and future governance structure. We need to hear from you to ensure that we are responding to your concerns and desire to participate. The survey will be open for two more weeks. Please take 2-3 minutes to fill out the survey and make your voice count.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

A new FAQ page on the website responds to common questions that have come up around the reform, both during the General Assembly and through the Transition period so far. If you have a question, it’s likely that other people have the same question too! So if you don’t find an answer to your question here, please write to ippfreform@ippf.org so we can respond and, where relevant, update the FAQ document.

Updates

Stay abreast of the fast pace of the transition by reading updates from the Transition Committee and the cross-regional Secretariat support teams that are supporting the TC in carrying out its mandate. A post from the Governance support team is available here. Look for upcoming posts from the legal and resource allocation support teams in the coming weeks.

Coming Soon

Next week, IPPF will publish adverts for recruiting candidates to the Board of Trustees and the Nominations and Governance Committee. While the search is being led by the recruitment firm Perrett Laver, we rely on you, the IPPF membership, to put forward the best candidates from your networks. Look for the Action Alert in your inbox.

To promote young people’s greater involvement in these governance structures, IPPF will host an online webinar for youth about these positions and how they can apply.
